Just a piece of news.

When I was at IMS two weeks ago to buy some eb clarinet mouthpiece blanks, I
also picked up a cocobolo mouthpiece blank, also made by Zinner.

Ok, I need to get a life...I know that.

I worked on it a bit, really only a little, and then I played it in concert
last Saturday. Boy, does it play nice. I was afraid it would be "pretty" but
not project. Wrong! The sound is strong, very centered, and projects well. I
am able to "color" or "voice" the tome easily. It also tunes extremely well,
especially with a Moennig style barrel.

As far as stability goes, we'll see. I'll be interested in what the Chicago
winter and associated heating season does to it. But for now I'm very excited.

I have been intrigues ever since Abe Galper was nice enought to let me try
one of his wood mouthpieces. I tried an old Buffet ebony mouthpiece (I think
that's right, isn't it Abe) and really liked it.

Anyway, I thought I would share the experience.

Walter
