Hello Hans,
I have unsuccessfully looked for some time for a reference book on
alternate key systems for clarinet. Perhaps in your research you could
recommend one? I know that there are books in which a chapter is given to
historic clarinets, but I have never seen one which focuses on this. About
fifteen years ago I met a fellow in Vancouver, B.C. who had a wonderful
collection of something like 150 clarinets, many of which had the most
interesting key systems, some very beautifully made. Since then, I have had
some interest (I have had several Albert system clarinets, for example) but
have never "hit the mother lode" for information on this topic. Metal
clarinets might well be a chapter in such a book and would be something
else I would like to read about.
If you, or anyone, could recommend such a book, I would be very
appreciative. I can imagine that such a book would be heavily illustrated.
Thanks to the list, and nice to meet you Hans.
