No, I'm afraid I can't accept that explanation. That's not why you
didn't correct me.

At that moment, you didn't understand how or why what I said, or what
you said, was faulty. Therefore, no amount of vocal elaboration or
hand-waving would have done any good, because it wasn't a minor point,
but a very major point.

You just weren't in a position at that moment to 'enlighten' me.

But others 'watching' could have been.

What I'm talking about is our being more geared up to question both the
things we say and the things others say.
