R. H. Barham wrote a poem about a paradigmatically idle young aristocrat
called Lord Tomnoddy, who misses the wonderful sight of a public hanging
because he gets up too late and takes hours to dress, etc.
This is more or less the sort of person a "Tomnoddy" was - I don't know
whether the poem or the name came first, however. "Attercop" I've never
heard of. What is it - some kind of policeman????
