That certainly seems to indicate, to me at any rate, that stretch tuning
is present to some extent in the OFF position.

But maybe not. Perhaps by 'standard tuning curve' they do actually
mean, 'straight line'.

Well, just to find out. You should be able to do that by just playing a
high octave and seeing what it sounds like.
