I hope everything is clearer now. I did some research myself. According
to the manual for the Roland KR-575 digital piano:

"STRETCH TUNING

ON - This tuning curve expande the bass and treble ends somewhat. It's
suited to performances such as piano solos. This setting is in effect when
you turn on the power.

OFF - This is the standard tuning curve. It's suited to Layer Play and
ensemble performances with other instruments."

The manual also lists the various tuning possibilities: Equal, Just
(major), just (minor) Pythagorean (dissonant 3rds but perfect 4ths and
5ths), Mean Tone, Werkmeister (combination of Mean and Pythagorean),
Kernberger (combination of Mean and Just), and Arabic. For any temperament
other that Equal, you must specify a ground note (note corresponding to C
in the scale for major, of A for minor).

It looks like the easy way to play in tune with your digital piano, then,
is to turn stretch tuning off.

By the way, Tony, I very much enjoyed revisiting those Beethoven symphonies!

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
