I don't know exactly which overtures, and I wasn't necessarily on all
of them; but I remember there was also something with a little
interlude and a slowish C clarinet solo -- do I remember a bit for
piccolo, too, played by Wibb? -- that seemed worth doing on the proper
instrument. I also remember that there was some surprise from Neville
and some members of the orchestra, because playing on a C clarinet
definitely wasn't the usual thing to do in London at the time.

Erm.... I never heard that disc, but I remember that it was just at the
very beginning of my early clarinet experience, when I was still
wondering which end to blow down.

So don't listen *too* closely!
