" Do all of these words have *separate* meanings? OR, is there a
misspelling present? Does Webster's (or whatever equivalent dictionary)
allow for different (yet correct) spellings.
-------------------------------
"As I explained in the posts, I am using Harmonic to mean, a sound that is
decomposable into, or constructable from, a collection of sinusoidal
overtones that are in whole number ratios. Thus, if the sound has frequency
f, it is equivalent to the sum of various proportions of the sinusoidal
frequencies f, 2f, 3f, 4f, etc;"

"Anharmonic to mean, a sound not so decomposable or constructable.

Cool. Got it. BUT, what about IN-harmonic ?

"B# on the staff goe to C ... E# on the staff goes to F ... (I thought) this
was an example of EN-harmonic(s)."
-------------------------------
"This is a completely different thing."
*********************
As I suspected.

"Tony mentioned AN-harmonics relative to FREQUENCY of sin waves (and sound
produced by the waves, I take it)."
------------------------------
"No; but as explained above, however."
********************
Right.

"Help - please, somebody throw me a (harmonic) life preserver before I
drown! Can somebody recommend a good text to read on Tony's subject of
harmonics, overtones, sine waves, etc. Thanks. mw"
-----------------------------
"Arthur Benade, Fundamentals of Musical Acoustics, Dover."
********************
Thanks, hope it floats! :>)

"Not an easy read, though."
********************
Ahhh, no problem. You see, I have read The Complete Internal Revenue Code
many times over. When you figure out how to stick a domestic (U.S.) corp
into IRC § Section 355, run it through the spin cycle of IRC § Section 361,
and then let it rise through IRC § Section 356 ... things start to come into
focus!

Seriously, thanks for taking so generously of your time.
