The Prokofiev quintet is as much fun to play as it is to listen to. As we
were working on it, I couldn't help but to make up fictional scenarios to the
movements, which I of course shared with the rest of the quintet... (One
movement I called, "Hallucinations of mid day traffic in Manhattan in 90
degree heat." Can you guess which one?) Oh, and a minor note, when I was
working on it, I had polled the Klarinet list to find some fingerings for an
A in the last movement, and got a great one that I ended up using in the
performance. :)

Usually I don't like weird music, but this one is weird and
understandable and enjoyable -- all at the same time.
Because it's interesting to hear what other people enjoy
sufficiently to play themselves, has anyone here played or experimented
with it -- all or in part -- for fun, study, performance or for any
other reason? >>
