In most PERFORMING situations, of course, the piano or organ MUST be
assumed to be right, since the pianinst is unable to make the adjustment,
but a clarinetist can adjust his barrel, setup, or embouchure with RELATIVE
ease. Obviously synthesized sound is, I believe, so obvious because of the
lack of richness of overtones, and, I suspect, the "in-tuneness" of those
overtones (that and inaccuracy of attack).
