Ah, but it has been done . . . and on purpose! Stockhausen wrote a piece
for Clarinet/Dancer (not clarinet and dancer, mind you, but a dancer to play
clarinet while playing) entitled Harlequin. Pretty cool. I don't know that
the auditory effect of the movement was intended, but in the performance I
witnessed it was definitely there. I believe that William O. Smith wrote
some pieces where movement for auditory effect was intended as well.

Now, I will never, ever successfully perform Harlequin. It's hard, and I
don't look good in a tutu.

Spinning creates its own effect -- sort of like a Lesley organ speaker that
spins in the cabinet, only with more input.
