I got my copy a couple of weeks ago, that list member Roger Garrett plays
and produced.

I float every time i listen -- very fine music and great clarinet
playing.

The title refers that every piece on the CD is clarinet duets thru choir,
and each includes basset clarinet or bass clarinet.

The Uhl - Divertimento is a new piece to me, i am enjoying getting to
know the work.

The Mendelssohn Concertpieces are excellent style. (Only adjustment for
the basset horn having its break in the 'wrong' place for those of us who
have played the 2nd part on soprano clarinet)

The Stadler Basset Horn trios are a hoot, rather trite at times, but fun.
The sound of 3 basset horns is a treat.

The playing on the clarinet quartet version of 12 variations on "Ah vous
dirai-je, Maman" is exquisite phrasing and ensemble. Artistry.

St. Paul's Suite, arranged for clarinet choir by Roger is a great ending.
I have gotten to play the suite in string version, and the last movement
also in the band suite version.
I love this music, and this version is entirely satisfying. Among the
highlights is the scale passage at the end of Ostinato which dovetails
without seam down thru the ensemble nto the contra-alto basement. Heck,
I can barely tell-- even when listening on good equipment-- where the
trade-offs are in the ostinato.

The Intermezzo plaintive melody is devastating, both the solo, inner
voices and the weightiness of the chord accompanment.

Dargason romps thru the changes, again bass/tuba melody near the end of
the movement is wonderful contra (I have not heard pro quality
contra-clarinet, and this demonstrates that it is a *clarinet*.)

I strongly recommend this recording to all.
