Unless my memory is incorrect, Brymer played on Boosey and Hawkes
clarinets--possible the 1010. Shifrin uses Buffet. Very different
instruments, and tone. Add that to Brymer's English style, and Shifrin's
American style, the difference just grow.

That's really amazing. I guess if you're going to copy anybody Jack
Brymer's a pretty good choice. I am surprised that the tone is so similar,
though. Brymer was pretty damned English. I always perceived Shifrin as
middle of the road North American.
