Is it like Leicester Square in London is pronounced like Lester? I think
when we first arrived, we thought it was pronounced lie-cest-er, but soon
found out otherwise when we went there! I sure miss Piccadilly!

Isn't Ralph pronounced "Raiff"?

Correct! Stateside people tend to read "Bye-ses-ter." It's not
surprising; if you read it phonetically, that's how it would sound...but
the Brits (no offence) are a bit funny on that 'ce'. *grin*

I always use the example of Worcester Sauce (yummy!) - which we all know
is pronounced "Wurster," not "Wor-ses-ter."

Shall we continue the discussion with a return to the correct
pronunciation of Ralph Vaughan Williams? *grin*
