In copyright law, the creator of the work assumes a copyright the
moment his/her creation is placed into fixed form, whether (s)he
publishes it or not. Publication is simply the public dissemina-
tion of that work without substantial usage restrictions. If the
work remains in the creator's private possession and is never pub-
lished, the law continues to enforce his/her rights. -- Is this
accurate, Mark? I don't have the code in front of me right now.
