Personally, yes I think you are, and I mean this with complete respect
and no derision of any kind. Sometimes, the sincerest form of sympathy
and support comes from making a lighthearted quip about something that
is deserving of all the seriousness that it receives. Finding a little
humor in a serious subject allows the participants in the exchange to re-
lease angst-ridden energy, without in any way diminishing the gravity of
the issue. On the contrary: being able to joke about it brings the pos-
sibility of greater openness and communication about an otherwise prickly
and inflammatory issue among those who are involved in the debate. No
disrespect is inferred from a pun if everybody is on the same page. It's
hard to make that assumption, understandably, on a public email list.
