collection:

"[Bram Stoker's heir said that] unfortunately most of the works had
lapsed into public domain. "

I find that hilarious. Unfortunately??

Mark, you know that I'm not a flamer or an "ad hominem" sort of
person. So I sincerely hope you won't take this as a personal attack
when I point out that this viewpoint has been the foundation of the "all
information should be free" vs. the "I worked to produce it, so I own
it" debate that flowered with the original 'hackers' in the Model
Railroad Club and still produces justifications in the popular mind for
hacking and the questionable aspects of Napsterism and so forth today.

I am not taking sides in the case of Bram Stoker. It seems
reasonable to me that there should be some limitation on the term of
copyrights and patents and prosecution of less serious crimes and so
forth, and there should be some allowance for fair use even before the
term as expired.
But I do hope that you can see that there *are* two sides to these
issues. It's not hilarious, IMO, not by a long shot. Debatable, yes.
Hilarious, no.
