Actually Mark, there is a round ball that cello players use that has set screws to attach it to the cello peg. They
have great gripping power at any angle. I do believe the new Buffet bass clarinets have floor pegs with this very
ball end included.

For a retrofit they might seem a bit pricey. I think they're around $20 or close to it, but they work great. No
slipping nor marks or gouging of a hardwood floor. Any high end string shop would have them in stock.
