A wooden box with a rubber mat (like an under-the-rug non-slip pad) attac=
hed
on the top to avoid slippage of the bass clarinet would do the trick. Man=
y of
the bass clarinettists I have known have a cube shaped box made, or make =
it
themselves. It is more stable than the peg, and can be used with any bass=

clarinet, instead of having to attach a peg to each one that doesn't have=
one.
It can also be used for alto clarinet. Should be about $5-10 in supplies =
at
the local hardware store. Home Depot would even cut the wood for you, and=
all
you would have to do, would be nail the pieces together and attach the
non-skid pad on the top.

Another option instead of making one, would be a wooden crate for soda bo=
ttles
or milk bottles (old style crates to hold quart milk or soda bottles or t=
he
crates that hold the 6-8 oz sodas will work too, depending on the height
needed.) Just attach the non-skid pad to the top so the instrument doesn'=
t
slide on the top of the box. You can get these from junk yards or ask a l=
ocal
dairy (disclaimer... I didn't say take one from the back of a grocery sto=
re,
although I didn't say you can't do that either - lol)
