I have been using so-called 'anchor-tonguing' all my playing life, and can
tongue far more rapidly and cleanly than many who have been forced into a
tip style of tonguing. I feel that it is a case of embouchure and tongue
size that suits each individual player, and that to bow to any dogmatic
theory of tonguing is ignoring the end result. If a student of mine can
tongue well, I would never dream of forcing him/her to change unless there
were specific problems.
