Bob Lake gave me permission to post this:
--------------
I'm sure that Jean will reply also, but it all started out with "Reed
Adjusting"! I was interjecting my experiences on the Klarinet List about
sealing the vamp of the reed to make it more responsive & not get
water-logged. I studied in '61-'62 with Dr. Jon Mohler who made reeds from
blanks, and many on the list pooh-pooh'd the idea that I knew had worked for
me for 30 years! Jean responded to me that she had learned a similar
technique from Charles Bay at Ithaca College in NY.

Anyway - we started talking that March 21, '97 & found that we had much in
common, etc. It was the "right time" for both of us & we both were "deadly
honest" with each other, about our present, past, beliefs, and ideas... We
were engaged, after many hours of talking & meeting "face to face" in May
'97! We spent time together in MPLS & NY over the following year, and were
married in Glens Falls,NY July 25, 1998. We played a Clarinet Duet at our
wedding! We returned to Edina, MN where I taught band for one more year
before retiring after 32 consecutive years of teaching. Jean is still
practicing her skills as a Registered Pharmacist in the Metro MPLS area!

We play together in two Concert Bands: ENCORE WINDS <www.encorewind.com>
Conducted by Charles Olson (of hand-made conducting baton fame). Encore
Winds is a semi-pro band patterned (somewhat) after the Dallas Winds. Star
of the North Concert Band - <www.starofthenorth.org> conducted by Wayne
Feller is the other band. We just returned from a 16 Day Concert Tour of
Greece/Turkey with the Star
of North Band. You & others may wish to check the bands out on the web!

Needless to say, Jean & I are very happy, and have much to THANK YOU & THE
KLARINET LIST for helping us to get together! It never would/could have
happened otherwise! Put this "Feather in your Cap" Mark!

Sincerely, Bob Lake
