Does anybody here ever get "Hey, woo-hoo, I'm better than I
thought!" surprises?

Actually, I had to record the Saint-Saens Sonata for a major donator to my
school for scholarship
considerations, and I had thought the same thing about sounding horrible on
recordings. But, I was keenly surprised when this particular one turned out
rather well! I didn't even cringe when I listened to it! That was a first,
since I am my own worst critic!
