I would say this is highly debatable. I haven't conducted a survey or anything,
but I'm willing to gamble that most advanced players can point to one past teacher
in particular as being responsible for a signficant portion of their current con-
cept of how to play the instrument. A player might even be able to point to sev-
eral teachers who had that kind of impact, and the relationship between their past
education and their current activities remains a strong one. Perhaps I misunder-
stood what you were trying to say.
