Yes, I find it reassuring that fine players have the same reaction to
tapes of their playing.

And i still think it is in part the medium--how many people like the way
they look on videotape? Or even a still picture.

I do better if i focus on what i like---

but i think that i have an unusual degree of the trait that i copy
whatever i focus on.

If i spend too much energy thinking about what i do not like, i still
copy that. If i keep attention on what is effective, then i find myself
incorperating 'the good stuff'.

Even within the context of working with students, this attitude works.

AND THEN,
every d**m once i while, i am pleased with what i hear on playback.
