Quite right too! The (-?) signified my recognition
that "my not having found a death date in
any the necrologies to which I have access
proves that a person is living" - is a snare and a
delusion of grandeur into which I have not yet slid!
I too hope to live to 85+ and wish him a long and happy life.
This rejoinder gives me the chance to say that
George Perle's four wind quintets (1959 to 84) will
truly stretch your ears in a conservative fashion,
if your will let him! (CD: NW 359) He began to
investigate Schoenberg's system in 1937,
notable with the Lyric Suite (Berg).
