Neil is correct here as far as the shape and purpose for this mouthpiece.
Because of my skeletal problems, on occasion I am unable to open my mouth
more than 10 mm. The normal opening for an adult is 35 - 40 mm. During
these times I use a Profile 88 to get me over the hump until I am able to
open a little more. Just in case anyone is interested, my normal opening is
23 - 25 mm on a good day, the rest of the time usually between 15 - 20 mm.
There are all sorts of new and interesting toys out there to help people
with all sorts of problems. If one really wants to play, it can be done.
