...and while we're talking of such things, I noticed at
ClarinetFest that when the major performers got tired from too many
encores, it wasn't their facial muscles that they paid attention to.
They wiggled and shook their fingers, but they never massaged their
jowls or stretched their lips or mouth wide. I've noticed the same
thing of students at our local master classes as well.
I've never experienced tired fingers myself, which I suppose shows
that I haven't attempted any fast articulation exercises yet (or fast
runs or fast tempos of any sort).
