I'm having the same thumb problem with my Bb and A. After playing for only
15 or so minutes, my right thumb and wrist are wrenched with shooting pain.
I hate to spend 150+ on adjustable thumb rests (especially since I feel my
car heading towards needing repair). Do any of you have experience with this
problem? I was thinking of just getting the existing rests moved up and pay
only $10 a piece.

Subject: [kl] Adjustable thumb rest for Eb clarinet
G'day.
Am playing a little Eb clarinet these days - not the norm for me - and I
notice that the thumb rest is placed so low (for me) that it creates a
great deal of tension in my right hand. It surely isn't the weight of
the little beast. I am wondering if an adjustable thumb rest made for a
Bb/A would fit this (Leblanc 1176) Eb. The thumb rest on the Eb horn
looks from first perusal to be of a similar size to that normally used
on a Bb/A. As I play a Rossi Bb (w/wooden thumb rest), I can't compare
quickly. Does anyone know for sure?
Many thanks,
Anne
