Great, fine, but who *was* it, for the love of Pete? I've been living the
whole Fest vacariously through all of the Klarinet comments, and now you're
just going to *hint* at who the competition winner was? Come on you sadist,
let it out! (Please?) ;-)

Perhaps, but in this case the comment doesn't come as *too* much of a surprise.
I'm sure he's personally acquainted with a majority of the world's great players
~ he probably taught a few of them at one point or another. Fred Ormand is one
of those not-oft mentioned player/teachers who has had a substantial impact on
the face of clarinetistry in the U.S. and elsewhere, and he continues to produce
some really marvelous talent from his studio at Michigan. I may audition for
him myself if I ever get around to pursuing a Master's.
