Well, I'm not long experienced, but I've used double lip as a diagnostic
tool, especially in the altissimo register, and it usually works better
because it keeps me from biting down on the reed. I then adjust my single
lip embouchure so that I don't pinch off the mouthpiece so tightly, and
the altissimo speaks as if I were playing double lip. ^_^
