I just received an email from Sean Osborn, informing me that he has
retired from the Met orchestra and is moving to Seattle very shortly.
An unhappy surprise, quite honestly, given the marvelously artistic
performances he gave over the years in the 2nd/Eb slot. The very
best of luck to you in your solo and compositional ambitions, Sean.
If your abilities as a composer approximate your abilities as a per-
former, we all look forward to a continued output of inventive music
-- clarinet specific and otherwise -- beyond what has already been
released.
