My school, Southern Illinois University, has a sarrusophone in it's
instrumnt collection. I've seen it before, but I haven't played it. I'm not
sure if I want to! It might be fun, however..

I had a great time at Clarinetfest -- learned a lot, met interesting people,
heard wonderful music. I made the mistake of leaving some of the things I
wanted to do till Sunday morning, when I found that most of the exhibitors
had already packed up and left. So I missed my chance to try blowing on the
sarrusophone at the museum booth next door to Mark and sneezy.org's. Did
anybody try it?

High point for me was trying out Stephen Fox's clarinets
(www.sfoxclarinets.com), especially his new Benade NX model, which wasn't as
different from a standard Boehm clarinet as I expected. I didn't have to
change my playing technique much -- I just sounded better, especially on the
lowest notes. The low E and the third-line B are unbelievable.

Low point was when I left my black Clarinetfest bag (nice bag!) in the small
lecture hall for a few minutes and it disappeared. It had some valuable (to
me) items in it: a mouthpiece, appointment book, and notebook with
irreplaceable notes. If you haven't looked in your bag since you got it,
_please_ take a look and make sure you didn't pick up mine by mistake.
