Subj: [kl] enthused musings upon Mozart Concerto
Date: Fri, 14 Jul 2000 00:01:48 -0400

Just had the kind of practice session that is the reason i keep playing
the clarinet.

Just finished practicing. Mozart Cto., 3rd mvt. It is so buoyant and
playful and easy with the classical phrasing, and the notes are flowing
at tempo -- with the exception of the Albert bit A c G c F c G c C c --
but even that is improving.

Then as a treat i played thru the adagio mvt (with imaginary orchestra,
very calm and responsive, it was.)

Thanks be to God and Mozart for such wonderful music.

I let the piece lay fallow for year, read Tony Pay's article Phrasing in
Contention. Listened to some great singers.
I could perform the concerto now if i get an opportunity.

A year ago i would not have been ready. But if i hadn't done the first
round of preparation and struggle, I wouldn't be within reach of true
competence now.
