Aw, c'mon Tone, give us a break.

Surely it's clear, even if he's forgotten exactly what he said.

He's talking about these plastic reeds by Guy Legere.

The procedure, suggested by the maker, makes the reed immediately
'weaker', by about a quarter strength, and the weakening effect is
slightly less the next day (the reed 'recovers' a bit) though it's still
noticeable. The upshot is that the reed is slightly stiffer than it was
immediately after the treatment, but not as stiff as it was before the
treatment.
