Moyse - 40 Little Studies for Beginner Flutists (w/piano accompaniment)
This is from memory from my Music Ed days long ago, so apologies if I've
mixed my metaphors...

May I also suggest subscribing to the FLUTE list? There are literally
thousands of flutists there, and many obviously knowledgeable and
committed teachers sharing information such as you've asked for with all
who ask. Send the message:

Lastly, I know we have to keep them interested, but I wish we could do it
with "real music" (no flames please!!). My clarinet students used to
enjoy "Easy Original Solos for the Clarinet" edited by Stanley Drucker,
which had snippets of real clarinet repertoire with piano accompaniment.
Some pieces were complete movements, others excerpts. All were from
"classical" pieces. While musically the whole piece might have been too
difficult for the 10-14 crowd, the excerpts were learnable, and good
music (did I say that before!!) and allowed me to start on musical
concepts more readily than Rubank or Tune-A-Day (insert name of your
favorite method here). Is this book still in print?
