Dear Mattias

I am in the possession of an old A-clarinet, make Boosey and Hawkes (from
the time they did make really good clarinets). If you cann't find one I am
willing to lend it to you, as I seldom use it. I must give a warning
however: It was an excellent instrument, but after the upper part had a
crack, some 25 years ago, and they replaced the whole part (the original one
got lost, when I went to the factory in London Mr Baines had just become
chief director of the "wood" department and he confided me this department
was just a big mess. A year after B&H had stopped the production of
clarinets) it has never been a really good instrument any more. Nonetheless,
I hope if you have to accept my offer it will come up to your standards.

Mail me privately for my address in the Netherlands, if needed.

Rien
