Um...yeah, right. The Michigan State Band and Orchestra Association
festivals are the be-all and end-all of the the entire state school music
system. The means by which band directors are judged, bragging rights
secured, etc., etc. You could no more eliminate them than repeal gravity.
The point of the ORIGINAL scores is, of course, to discourage photocopying.
Unauthorized photocopied music, whether in band and orchestra festivals or
solo and ensemble competitions, is grounds for disqualification.
