Subj: RE: [kl] Beer - Best, good & bad (Plus my 4th)

In a message dated 7/3/00 12:43:21 PM Eastern Daylight Time, I noted:

<< . . . which reminds me, I need to pick some up for the 4th . . . >>

. . . and Teri Herel chided me:

<<<Put that beer down and play patriotic junk like the rest of us! Sheesh,
where do you get off getting the day off...>>>

Uh, I didn't. Had the same July 4 gig for the last eight years . . . last
group on the bandstand prior to the power going off. Nothing quite like
trying to pack your horn outdoors in pitch darkness with shells booming
overhead. Sousa, Sousa, Sousa, with a bit of Bilik and John WIlliams thrown
in. Blast-O-Rama.

Because the band played in a tent that was several sizes too small, my ears
are still ringing. Hence the need for liquid refreshment/anesthetic.

As to Roger Shilcock's post, the Guinness in question is the "Guinness Draft
Pasteurized Stout" - closest thing you can get to the real draft stuff. The
"Floating Draught System" can apparently has a little nitrogen/CO2 cartridge
in it, giving that smooth, yummy draft beer experience.

Yesterday being the 4th, however, we were sipping Bud - cold, red white &
blue and all that. Free beer is tasty beer.
