I didn't use the l.hand sliver Eb until undergrad music student. It is
the fingering i built in for thirds in key of F# major, or whenever the
sequence --D#(l) to F# (2 side keys) to E# (thumb)--occurs.
I have begun to use it occasionally in ascending chromatic passages.
