I've already voiced my opinion, but....

If the ligature does make a difference, then strobe photographs
have shown clearly that 'good concert tone' occurs when the reed
vibrates as a single unit across its width, not chaotically with the
edges doing one thing and the center doing something else. My
conclusion is that, if ligature does make a difference, then supporting
the reed across its entire width would help, not hurt, the tone.

By the way, 'hefeweizen' unfiltered wheat beer is obviously the
best tasting beer in the world.... nobody would argue with this either,
would they? <smile>
