I've had the same problem off-and-on over the years. We've had a couple of
threads you could look up in the archives. It's basically caused by fatigue
in your naso-pharynx (sp?). It happens to me generally when I am *both* out
of shape and dealing with a lot of allergic post-nasal drip. The pharynx
doesn't seal completely under the relatively high pressure of blowing
against the resistance of a clarinet reed/mouthpiece. The solution for me is
to be in shape, especially during the spring and summer when my allergies
are kicking up, and using antihistamines to control the drip. If I am
experiencing any problem, I make certain I'm playing on very responsive
reeds - it's not a good time to be using a stiffer one for some special
technical need or trying to make a less responsive reed last through a
couple of rehearsals just because it isn't awful.

If it only happened to you the one time, it could have been a combination of
fatigue from over-doing the practice schedule and tension from the
performance itself. It *is* pretty disabling, though, when it happens.
