Dear Bill,

Your comments remind me of a joke:

A devout man and his family were caught in a flood.
As the water got deeper they climbed to the roof of their home and started
praying to God to save them.
Right after that rescuers came by in a boat.
The man told them not to bother, that he had faith in God and God would save
them.
The waters kept rising. Soon it was lapping at their feet.
Again, the man prayed to God to save them.
A helicopter then swooped down and dropped a basket to pick them up.
The man declined, shouting up to them that God would save them.
After hovering until fuel was low, the helicopter finally had to leave them.

Ultimately, they were swept away by the raging waters and drowned.
When they got to heaven they ran into God.
The man asked God why, after all his prayers, He had forsaken them.
God said, "Look, I sent a boat, I sent a helicopter and you refused their
help. You pissed me off."
