About 3 years ago, I purchased a noblet C clarinet, mostly for use in my
Klezmer band. I liked it so much that I had to get a much better instrument.
I ended up with an awesome RC Prestige C that tunes great and sounds
wonderful. I recently had a E-11C to try, I really liked it a lot, not as
much as the RC I had been playing, But to much to send back to International.
So one of my friends decided to buy it. Had I had the choice when I had
choice between the E-11, and the Rc when I was trying better instruments, I
would have in all likelihood bought the E-11. To my ear the E-11 sounds and
reacts very much like an R13 bore type clarinet and it is a WHOLE LOT less
expensive. The question I have about "C" clarinets and other pitch clarinets
is. Why don't we use them when the music calls for it? Do we expect that
every Clarinet no matter the key, is supposed to sound like a Bb clarinet? I
am looking for an Albert system "C" clarinet if anyone has one. I'm giving
serious thought into having Rossi build a C clarinet for me. If I do, and he
does, I'll let you all know how it turns out!!
