The "K" that precedes Mozart's work numbers stand for Kochel. A man named
Ludwig von Kochel is responsible for cataloging Mozart's works. He
published a book circa 1862 that was entitled "Chronological-Thematic
Catalogue of the Complete Musical Works of WOLFGANG AMADE MOZART".
