James Marioneux asked if anyone had played a reduced-orchestra version of Rite
of Spring with both bass clarinet parts combined into one. I played this
version about 8 years ago with the Kennedy Center Opera House orchestra
(Washington, DC) when we were the pit band for the visiting Boston Ballet. The
reduced arrangement (I thought) was really good, and it was a blast to play both
bass parts! Unfortunately, as in the original full-orchestra arrangement, the
bass clarinet part was in bass clef, and required a low-C-capable bass clarinet
(which I didn't have, so I faked the extra-low notes).
