Just a quick note for anyone contemplating doing any experiments at all
involving human interpretation of sound and music (this note just reminded
me):

I purchased Dr. Diana Deutsch's compilation "The Psychology of Music"
recently and highly recommend reading it if you are at all interested in how
we perceive sounds, tones, timbres, rhythms, room acoustics, sound
localization, etc. It's relatively expensive (about $70.00 for a 700 page
paperback) but well worth it. Each chapter is by a different luminary in a
particular sub-field of music psychology. It will most probably help you
design an experiment that may have some general meaning.

I also purchased her CD of musical illusions. Most enlightening & fun!

I have no financial stake in the book or CD, just a interested reader &
listener.
