I believe this is true. And I was surprised to read recently that Jack Brymer
and Marcellus were good friends. I know that Marcellus admired Brymer's
playing very much. He mentioned especially Brymer's tone on some recordings
with Beecham, recordings of English music.

I myself think Brymer's mid 70s recording of the Baermann Adagio is some of
the greatest chamber playing I have heard. Anyone who is consistently asked
to solo with, play chamber music with, and play orchestral music with the
best musicians in England (and elsewhere) deserves a lot of admiration. Plus
he did them all well. . .
