They are arranged like the white keys on a keyboard: I hope these are the
correct names in English:

Dorian: D-D
Phrygian: E-E
Lydian: F-F
Mixolydian: G-G
Aeolian: A-A
Locrian: B-B
Jonian: C-C

Like this you get the right intervals, then you can start on whatever note
you want. I hope this is clear enough.
