Goodman was never entirely comfortable in the classical repertoire, and I
think it shows in his playing of the concerto. Granted, it is a live
recording, without postproduction fixes, apparently. It was the first
recording of the work I ever had, and, while I would love to be able to play
it so well, I don't think it is either the Mozart Concerto OR Benny
Goodman's clarinet playing shown to best advantage.
