I had goretex installed on my clarinets several years ago. My repairman had
a difficult time getting them, and an even harder time installing them...
By his normal tests, they didn't seem to seal at all.

However, they play great. Since they were put on my horn, I've needed many
fewer service calls because of leaks. Before, my instrument would be in the
shop several times a year. NOw it goes in perhaps once per year. Even
after I spent several winters in Rochester, NY where the instrument would go
from humid case to dry air, warm locker into sub-zero cold weather... Still
works fine.
